Tips and Tricks

HydraSleeve on YouTube

GeoInsight is now set up with a new video camera for those questions we are asked which would be better answered in moving pictures, rather than in the spoken (or written) word.  A short, simple video can explain so much more than a written paragraph or even a set of still photographs.

In conjunction with this new acquisition we will be using YouTube for publication of the videos.  It will be a simple process to upload unpolished videos which show things like how the HydraSleeve check valve works and other things that are a little difficult to explain; but simple to demonstrate.

Our first homemade video is the HydraSleeve Time Trial which demonstrates exactly how simple and inexpensive it is to deploy HydraSleeves in an actual well.

Please check out our YouTube channel for some really great tips, tricks, instructions and demonstrations of our HydraSleeve products.

Regulatory Recognition

One of the top questions we are always asked by potential users of the HydraSleeve is:  What do regulators think of this no-purge groundwater sampling method?

Regulatory recognition of alternative groundwater sampling methods is changing very rapidly.  HydraSleeve sampling technology is becoming more and more acceptable to regulators seemingly by the day.  As budgets get tighter, regulators appear to be willing to take a look at greener, more energy efficient, and more cost-effective means to produce the same data.

Numerous independent studies show that use of the HydraSleeve has been shown to reduce material costs, labor costs AND it also provides less energy consumption than both low-flow and volume-purge sampling.

Here are just a few recent examples of regulatory recognition of using the HydraSleeves that we would like to share with you:

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation has included HydraSleeve as an accepted groundwater sampling method in their sampling field guidance dated August 2017.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has listed passive goundwater samplers and specifically the HydraSleeve as an option for groundwater sampling equipment in their Greener Cleanups - Contracting and Administrative Toolkit, dated January 2011

US Army Louisville district environmental program gets bigger and better. Expansion made possible by strengthening people and processes such as use of the HydraSleeve as shown in the main photograph for this article.  Published October 2010.

We are always happy to spread the word.  If you are aware of any new industry or regulatory acceptance documents, please let ut know, we will be happy to share them on our website.

In addition to simpler groundwater sampling; HydraSleeves also enjoy simpler shipping. Weights and accessories are all reusable; therefore the heavier items will only need to be shipped once.  These items come in small, easy-to-carry cartons.  The HydraSleeves themselves will typically be shipped in a light-weight Tyvek envelope.

We use Federal Express for our shipping services.  All methods of Fedex service levels can be used, from Priority Early Overnight, to standard Fedex Ground and everything in between.

Please note that most orders can be shipped the same day if we receive the order before noon, Mountain Time.   Also note, when ordering online there is sometimes a delay in processing because our merchant services company will approve the credit card charge prior to releasing the order to us.  If you have an emergency order that must arrive by a deadline, it would be best to call your order in.

**If your order requires shipment outside of the United States please contact us by phone or email.  There may be an international distributor to handle your HydraSleeve requirements, or we can process the order direct with some restrictions.  International shipments are handled by Fedex or DHL services - the courier will collect any duty or tax before they deliver your package.

Top Weight for 4-inch HydraSleeves

In order to get the most sample water from some wells, the HydraSleeve needs to be compressed in the bottom of the well.  This is typically necessary when the screened interval is short and/or the column of water in the screen is short.

See the video on the top-weight assembly.

Here's the top weight for our 4-inch HydraSleeve.

All top weights should be used in conjunction with a bottom weight.

4-inch Spring Clip

Introducing the new 4-inch Spring Clip for use with 4-inch HydraSleeves.  These larger Spring Clips provide the same usefulness and simplicity as the 2-inch Spring Clip which many of you have enjoyed using for years.  They provide a quick release point and a secure tether connection for 4-inch HydraSleeves.

They are used to hold the 4-inch HydraSleeves open at the top for a quicker fill time with the tether tied directly to the loop of the Spring Clip.   The NEW 4-inch Spring Clip is also used to attach the NEW hollow PVC Top Weight to the 4-inch HydraSleeves.
